We are filled with excitement to share that we have successfully concluded the IMPACT-ing EAST AFRICA youth leadership training at Makarios III Patriarchal Seminary. This historic initiative has been a transformative experience for young Orthodox leaders across Africa.

A Joyous Conclusion with the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy

Yesterday, we joined His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Kenya at St. Eleftherios Rironi for a special Hierarchical Divine Liturgy to mark the official closing of the training. The presence of clergy, faithful, and vibrant young leaders made it a moment of spiritual renewal and unity in Christ.

Gratitude to Our Shepherds and Supporters

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Orthodox bishops across Africa who sent representatives to participate in this leadership program. A special thanks to His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Kenya, who graciously hosted the training and remained actively engaged throughout the sessions. His dedication to youth ministry continues to inspire and strengthen the mission of the Church in Africa.

We also express our profound appreciation to the Orthodox Christian Mission Center (OCMC) (OCMC) and the Fundatia Noi Orizonturi (Noi Orizonturi) for their unwavering support. Their commitment, through the Multicountry Youth Missionary Dana Bates, has been instrumental in equipping our young leaders with the essential skills and knowledge necessary to serve the Church and their communities effectively.

A Transformative Training Experience

The training program was enriched with interactive discussions, group reflections, and practical workshops, providing participants with an opportunity to engage deeply. Through dynamic exchanges of ideas, young leaders explored innovative ways to spread the Gospel and live out their faith in today’s world.

This program has reinforced the vision of empowering the youth to take up their role in the Church with zeal and conviction. We are confident that the IMPACT movement will continue to grow, bearing fruits in every corner of Africa.

As we celebrate this milestone, we are reminded of the words of Archbishop Makarios Tillyrides of Kenya:
“The young people are the only ones who can heal the wounds that our Church currently has, and they are the only ones who can unite the Church.”
