Over the last three days, the Orthodox Christian Youth Association of Kenya (OCYAK), with the permission and blessing of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Kenya, proudly participated in the National Youth Conference organized by the National Council of Churches of Kenya (NCCK). This event brought together prominent youth leaders, clergy, and key stakeholders to discuss the current challenges facing young people in Kenya and to propose innovative solutions aimed at empowering the next generation.

The National Youth Conference provided a platform for thought-provoking discussions on critical issues affecting youth, particularly within the context of faith-based organizations and national development.

  • Mr. James Mwaura, The Chairman of OCYAK, delivered a powerful presentation highlighting the plight of young people in Kenya, particularly focusing on the socio-economic and spiritual challenges they face. He emphasized the urgent need for collaborative efforts in addressing these issues and proposed practical solutions that can be adopted by the Church and society at large.

The panel discussion revolved around the theme of youth involvement in national development and the Church’s role in nurturing young leaders. Mr. Joshua Kimani eloquently spoke on the importance of fostering a culture of active youth participation in key decision-making processes, both in the Church and in national leadership.
